Svago Newton Zero Gravity Recliner in living room setting

High-Density Memory Foam — Head-to-Toe Support

Every inch of your body that contacts the Newton is met with high-density memory foam that contours instantly and supports completely — from the base of your skull to the backs of your heels.

This full-length cushioning layer does more than add comfort — it enables the zero gravity experience to work as intended. When every part of your body is properly supported, your muscles can fully let go, allowing the vertebrae to settle back into their natural alignment. Without this foundation, even the best recline angle leaves you unconsciously bracing against the chair. The Newton eliminates that.

Air Cell Massage — Rhythmic, Multi-Point Compression

Rather than a single vibrating motor, the Newton uses strategically placed air cells that apply rhythmic pressure across multiple points simultaneously — the closest a chair can get to the feeling of hands-on manual work.

The air cells are integrated into the seat, backrest, and lumbar zones to address the specific pressure points that accumulate tension during a day of sitting, standing, or physical activity. Combined with the zero gravity recline and heat therapy, the Relax and Stretch program uses this air cell system to deepen the therapeutic effect — loosening the areas that resist passive relaxation alone. Users consistently describe this combination as a noticeably different experience from standard vibration massage.

Heat Therapy — Warmth Where It Does the Most Good

Targeted heat applied to the lumbar region works alongside air cell massage and zero gravity recline to accelerate muscle relaxation — not just mask tension, but help release it.

Warmth promotes circulation to the tissues that need it most and softens muscle tissue so compression from the air cells can penetrate more effectively at the same pressure setting. For users with chronic lower back tightness — the most common complaint we hear from buyers — the heat component is consistently described as the detail that makes the difference between a pleasant recline and a genuinely therapeutic session.

Royal Top Grain Leather — Handcrafted and Italian-Sourced

The Newton is upholstered in Italian-sourced Royal Top Grain leather, hand-selected and hand-stitched — not machine-applied — and it softens further with every year of use.

Svago sources its leather directly from Italian tanneries and specifies it for both appearance and longevity. Each Newton is built by hand — the frame is bolted individually, electrical components are installed by hand, and every chair passes individual inspection before packing. The result is a recliner that holds up over years of daily use and improves in feel and character over time, rather than cracking and fading like synthetic alternatives. Available in Grey, Mahogany Brown, Carbon, Ivory, and Tan with a Dark Walnut base, plus a Midnight synthetic hyde option for buyers preferring an eco-friendly alternative.

Handcrafted Construction — Built One Chair at a Time

Every Newton is assembled by hand using durable, quality-selected components — individually inspected before it ever ships.

The solid wood base is hand-carved and finished. The frame is bolted, not just screwed. Electrical components are installed individually by trained assemblers. This level of care at the manufacturing stage is what separates the Newton from recliners built to a price point on an assembly line — and it is the reason Svago can back it with in-home warranty service rather than asking you to ship the chair.

Adjustable Air Cell Lumbar Support

The Newton maintains the natural curvature of your lower spine throughout every session, so the position that feels right at the start of a session still feels right 30 minutes in.

The adjustable lumbar air cells can be tuned through the remote to match your specific lower back shape and sensitivity — firmer for users who need structural support, softer for those who simply want gentle pressure relief. This is especially important in the zero gravity position, where your lower spine needs consistent support to fully decompress rather than sinking unevenly into the backrest.

Smart Buttons — Instant Control Without the Remote

Capacitive touch buttons built discreetly into the inner armrest give you immediate access to the Newton's most-used controls — without sitting up, reaching, or picking up the remote.

A single touch moves the chair into zero gravity. The buttons are placed exactly where your hands rest naturally in the reclined position, so adjusting your session never requires an interruption. These controls complement the handheld remote rather than replacing it — whichever is more convenient in the moment, it is right there.

Handheld Remote with Two Custom Memory Settings

The full-featured remote puts complete control of the Newton in your hand — with two saved memory positions so every person in the household can return to their exact preferred settings in seconds.

Recline angle, zero gravity, lumbar support, heat, and air cell intensity are all adjustable through the remote. The two custom memory slots mean you and a partner each save your preferred configuration — no re-adjusting from scratch each session. The remote is sized and weighted for comfortable single-handed use while reclined.

True Zero Gravity Recline — Spinal Decompression at Home

Your legs rise above your heart, the compression forces that gravity places on your spine throughout the day disappear, and every therapeutic feature in the chair becomes more effective in this position.

The zero gravity position was originally developed from NASA research on load distribution during space launch — the angle at which the body experiences the least spinal compression. In this recline, blood circulates more freely, the intervertebral discs begin to rehydrate, and muscles that have been working all day against gravity finally release. The Newton's air cell massage and heat operate throughout the full recline range, so you receive therapeutic benefit from the moment the recline begins.

Independently Adjustable Headrest and Footrest

Head and foot positions adjust independently, by remote, so the Newton fits your body and your preferred recline angle — not the other way around.

The memory foam headrest adjusts remotely to support your neck at the exact angle that feels right for your height and posture — without reaching behind you. The footrest angle is also independently adjustable, which matters most for shorter and taller users whose legs do not naturally align with a fixed position. Getting the footrest angle right is one of the most overlooked factors in how comfortable a zero gravity position actually feels.

Engineered Armrest Design — Support Through the Full Recline

The Newton's armrests keep your arms in the correct alignment from upright to fully reclined — eliminating the awkward repositioning that most recliners force you through mid-transition.

Most recliners are designed with the upright position in mind; the armrests become misaligned as the chair tilts back, leaving users bracing themselves or repositioning their arms mid-session. The Newton's armrests are specifically engineered to remain in the correct supporting position throughout the entire recline range — a detail that is especially important for users with acute back pain, where any muscular bracing counteracts the spinal relief the zero gravity position is intended to provide.

Smart Wake-Up Programs and One-Touch Power Off

A built-in timer gently ends your session when you want it to — and a single button returns the chair to fully upright from any recline position, without manual step-by-step adjustment.

Total relaxation in zero gravity has a predictable effect: many users fall asleep. The Smart Wake-Up programs let you set a session length so the chair gently signals the end of your time without a jarring alarm. The One-Touch Power Off handles the return to upright automatically — you press one button and the chair does the rest, regardless of the angle you are at. For users who have difficulty getting out of a deep recline, this feature alone changes how independently they can use the chair.

A Design That Lives in Your Home, Not Beside It

The Newton looks like a considered piece of furniture — not a piece of equipment you are accommodating in your living room.

The conventional recliner silhouette and hand-carved wood base mean the Newton integrates naturally into any room — beside a sofa, in a reading corner, or in a bedroom. Buyers who have avoided massage chairs because of how they look in a home setting consistently cite the Newton's appearance as what changed their mind. At 400 lbs weight capacity and 22.4 inches of seat width, it accommodates a wide range of body types without compromising its proportions.

Our Expert Take on the Svago Newton

The Svago Newton occupies a specific and genuinely uncommon position in the zero gravity recliner market: a chair built with the craftsmanship and material quality of fine furniture and the therapeutic capability of a medical-grade wellness device. The distinction matters in practice. Most zero gravity recliners are either well-designed furniture pieces with token recline functions, or therapeutic chairs that are visually imposing and difficult to fit into a normal living room. The Newton does not make that trade-off. Italian-sourced Royal Top Grain leather, a hand-carved solid wood base, and a recliner silhouette that reads as a piece of furniture rather than a piece of equipment set it apart immediately.

The therapeutic features are substantive. The zero gravity position itself is the foundation — the recline that places your legs above heart level and eliminates the compressive load that gravity places on the spine throughout the day. Combined with the Newton's full-length high-density memory foam, the zero gravity experience is genuinely effective rather than approximate. Where the Newton goes further than comparable recliners is in the air cell massage system: multi-point compression woven into the backrest and lumbar zone that works rhythmically alongside the heat and zero gravity to address muscle tension rather than simply providing a comfortable place to sit. The Relax and Stretch program uses all three systems together, and users with chronic lower back tightness consistently describe this combination as more useful than passive recline alone.

The thoughtful details compound the overall experience. The engineered armrests maintain alignment from upright to fully reclined, so there is no awkward repositioning mid-transition. Smart Wake-Up programs prevent the extremely common experience of drifting off and waking up disoriented. The One-Touch Power Off returns the chair from any angle to upright with a single button — especially meaningful for older users or anyone for whom getting up from a deep recline is physically challenging. Two saved memory settings mean a household with two regular users can each have their preferred configuration ready immediately.

The Newton is the right chair for buyers who want a genuine zero gravity therapeutic recliner that they are also proud to have in their living room. It is not the right fit for buyers whose primary priority is roller-based back massage — the Newton's massage system is air cell compression, not mechanical rollers — or for buyers who need an extremely compact reclined footprint. Call 888-612-8862 and we will tell you directly whether it fits your situation.

What We Love

  • Italian-sourced Royal Top Grain leather, hand-stitched — Softens with age and use. Sourced and specified specifically for durability and appearance over the long term, not just at purchase.
  • True zero gravity with full-length memory foam — The position that eliminates spinal compression, supported by high-density foam that allows every muscle to release. The combination is what makes zero gravity therapy effective rather than just comfortable.
  • Air cell massage with lumbar heat — Multi-point rhythmic compression working alongside targeted heat to release tension through the back and glutes — not just a passive recline.
  • Engineered armrests that stay aligned throughout the recline — No awkward repositioning as the chair tilts. Arms stay properly supported from upright to fully reclined — especially important for users managing back pain.
  • Independently adjustable headrest and footrest — Both controlled by remote without getting up. Accommodates a wider range of heights comfortably than fixed-position alternatives.
  • Smart Wake-Up programs and One-Touch Power Off — Session timer prevents unintended extended sleep, and a single button returns the chair to fully upright from any reclined angle.
  • Two custom memory settings — Each user in the household saves their preferred configuration and returns to it immediately without re-adjusting.
  • FDA Registered medical device — The Svago Newton meets federal standards for therapeutic claims — a level of accountability most recliners do not hold.
  • Furniture aesthetics — six color options — The recliner silhouette and solid wood base integrate naturally into any room. Midnight synthetic hyde available for buyers preferring an eco-friendly alternative to leather.

Worth Knowing

  • The massage system is air cell compression, not mechanical rollers — The Newton delivers genuine therapeutic value through its air cells and zero gravity combination, but buyers whose primary goal is roller-based kneading along the spine should look at dedicated massage chairs. The two experiences address different needs. Call us and we will help you determine which type better fits what you are looking for.
  • The reclined footprint is 62.2 inches long — This is a meaningful planning consideration. The Newton requires adequate floor space in front of it to recline fully. It is sized appropriately for most living rooms, but measure your intended space before ordering if it is tight.
  • Standard warranty is 1 year in-home service / 2 year parts — Svago offers an extended warranty upgrade (additional 2 years in-home service and 1 year parts) at the time of purchase. If you plan to keep the chair long-term, it is worth considering when you order rather than after. Call 888-612-8862 and we will walk you through what makes sense for your situation.

Our Verdict

The Svago Newton is the most thoroughly crafted zero gravity recliner available — a chair that combines Italian leather, hand-carved woodwork, medical-grade zero gravity, and genuine air cell massage therapy in a design that earns its place in any room of the house. Best for buyers with chronic back pain, seniors who want effortless access to therapeutic recline, anyone who has avoided massage chairs because of how they look, and households where two people need to share a chair with saved individual settings. Look elsewhere if roller-based spinal massage is your primary priority, or if your space cannot accommodate a 62-inch reclined footprint.

Who Is This Chair Best For?

The Back Pain Relief Seeker

Zero gravity eliminates spinal compression, memory foam supports correct spinal alignment, targeted heat promotes blood flow to tight tissue, and air cell massage works the lumbar and back simultaneously. This is a coordinated therapeutic approach, not a single feature. Buyers managing chronic lower back pain, disc issues, or postural tension from desk work consistently describe the Newton as the first chair that produced genuinely useful relief.

The Senior or Mobility-Conscious Buyer

The One-Touch Power Off returns the chair to fully upright from any angle with one button — no manual adjustment, no awkward intermediate positions. The smart buttons provide instant access to common functions without reaching for the remote. At 400 lbs capacity with a generous 22.4-inch seat width and FDA-registered status, the Newton is built with the physical requirements of older adults explicitly in mind.

The Design-Conscious Buyer

You want the health benefits of zero gravity therapy and air cell massage, but you are not willing to sacrifice the look of your living room to get them. The Newton's recliner silhouette, solid hand-carved wood base, and six color options — including the eco-friendly Midnight synthetic hyde — blend into furnished rooms naturally. Six color options let you match existing furniture rather than working around a chair that looks out of place.

When to Consider a Different Chair

If roller-based back massage is your primary therapeutic goal, a dedicated massage chair with an S-track or L-track roller system will give you that experience more directly than the Newton's air cell approach. The Newton is genuinely therapeutic, but through a different mechanism. Call 888-612-8862 and we will walk you through which type better fits what your body needs.

If you want both zero gravity and mechanical roller massage in a single chair, the Svago ZGR is worth comparing, or a dedicated massage chair with zero gravity capability may offer the combination you are looking for. Tell us what matters most and we will give you a direct recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Newton different from a standard recliner?

The Newton is a zero gravity recliner — a fundamentally different category from a standard recliner. True zero gravity means your legs rise above your heart level as the chair reclines, eliminating the compressive load gravity places on your spine throughout the day. The Newton adds full-length high-density memory foam that supports correct spinal alignment in that position, air cell massage that works the back and lumbar therapeutically throughout the session, targeted lumbar heat, and two user memory settings. A standard recliner leans back; the Newton performs active spinal decompression therapy while doing so.

How does the return policy work?

We offer easy, no-questions-asked 30-day returns. If the Newton is not the right fit within 30 days of delivery, contact us and we will send a truck to pick it up — there is no freight for you to arrange. We have maintained an A+ BBB Rating since 2005, and standing behind our returns is a large part of how we have kept it.

What is the warranty on the Svago Newton?

The Newton comes with 1 year of in-home service (a Svago-authorized technician comes to you — you do not ship the chair) and 2 years of parts coverage. Svago also offers an extended warranty upgrade — an additional 2 years of in-home service and 1 year of parts coverage — purchasable at the time of ordering. If you plan to keep the chair for the long term, it is worth adding when you order. Call 888-612-8862 with any warranty questions and we will walk you through what makes sense.

What are the size and weight limits?

The Newton supports up to 400 lbs and has a 22.4-inch seat width. In its upright position it measures 39.4" L x 30.3" W x 47.2" H. When fully reclined in zero gravity it extends to 62.2" L x 30.3" W x 33.1" H. Measure your intended space for the reclined length before ordering. Call 888-612-8862 with specific fit questions and we will give you a direct answer.

What colors are available?

The Newton is available in Grey, Mahogany Brown, Carbon, Ivory, and Tan — all in genuine Royal Top Grain leather with a Dark Walnut wood base. A Midnight synthetic hyde option with Dark Walnut base is also available for buyers preferring an eco-friendly leather alternative. All colors are at the same list price. Call 888-612-8862 to confirm current availability.

Why buy from Easy Massage Chair?

We have been family-owned since 2005 with an A+ BBB Rating for over 20 years, selling massage chairs and zero gravity recliners exclusively the entire time. We offer a best price guarantee, free shipping, and no sales tax outside of New Jersey. Every chair ships 100% brand new from the manufacturer. When you call 888-612-8862, you speak with someone who knows these chairs from direct experience, not from a sales script.

What financing is available?

We offer financing through Affirm (0%–36% APR based on creditworthiness; check your rate at checkout without affecting your credit score) and PayPal Credit (0% interest for eligible buyers for up to 6 months).

Is the Newton worth it compared to visiting a spa regularly?

For buyers who use the chair consistently, the economics compare favorably to regular spa or wellness appointments within a couple of years. Beyond cost, the Newton provides daily access to zero gravity therapy and therapeutic air cell massage in the comfort of your own home — without scheduling, travel, or time constraints. Owners managing chronic back pain particularly value the ability to use the chair whenever tension builds rather than waiting for an appointment. Call 888-612-8862 for an honest assessment of whether it addresses your specific situation.

Dimensions – Full Recline62.2″L × 30.3″W × 33.1″H
Wall Clearance Required (What's this?)

Unlike a traditional recliner that kicks backward, this chair slides forward as it reclines — so it only needs 12.6 inches of clearance behind it. The reclined footprint extends 37 inches in front of the wall contact point. This "wall hugger" design is ideal for smaller rooms.

12.6 inches from wall
Seat Width22.4″
Air Cell Massage (What's this?)

Unlike roller-based massage chairs, the Newton uses air cells (small inflatable chambers) built into the seat and backrest. They inflate and deflate rhythmically to apply compression pressure that kneads the back muscles, hamstrings, and glutes — similar to multiple hands pressing simultaneously.

Air cell compression massage — integrated into seat and backrest; targets back, hamstrings, and glutes
Air Cell Lumbar SupportYes – adjustable air cells maintain natural lumbar curvature
Massage RollerNone – this is a zero gravity recliner, not a roller massage chair
Heat TherapyYes – lumbar region (promotes circulation and eases muscle tension)
Zero Gravity Technology (What's this?)

Inspired by NASA research, Zero Gravity raises your knees to heart level, evenly distributing your body weight and reducing spinal compression. This improves circulation, allows spinal discs to rehydrate, and promotes deep muscle relaxation. The Newton reclines to a near-horizontal position to achieve this.

Zero gravity recline — fully adjustable to near-horizontal position; knees elevated above heart level
One-Touch Zero GravityYes – single-button activation via smart arm buttons or handheld remote
One-Touch Return to UprightYes – returns to fully upright from any position
