Osaki 4D Atlas XL massage chair in living room setting

Built for Bigger Bodies — 400 lbs, 6’8”, 23” Seat Width

Finding a massage chair that actually fits you has always been the problem. The Atlas XL was designed from scratch specifically to address it.

The Atlas XL’s reinforced steel frame supports up to 400 lbs and comfortably accommodates users up to 6’8” tall. The 23-inch seat width, wider-than-standard armrests, and enlarged calf compartments are all purpose-built for larger frames — not retrofitted from a standard design. Taller users who have always felt cramped in massage chairs finally have a chair proportioned to how they actually sit.

SL Flex Track — Full Coverage from Neck to Hamstrings

The rollers follow your spine from your neck all the way to your hamstrings, with correct contact angle maintained throughout every recline position.

The SL Flex Track improves on the standard SL design by adding a flexible joint that keeps the roller mechanism at the correct angle relative to your backrest as you recline. The result is more consistent roller pressure across the full coverage range — from neck and shoulders down through the lower back to the hamstrings — and a more effective stretch massage that targets the calves and lower back simultaneously.

Smart Body Scan System

Every session starts with the chair reading your spine — so the rollers contact the right anatomy at the right depth, regardless of your height or posture that day.

Before your massage begins, the integrated body scan traces the natural curve of your back and calibrates roller position from neck to glutes. This ensures that the 4D rollers land on actual muscle tissue rather than missing their target — the difference between a massage that feels genuinely therapeutic and one that simply vibrates around you.

4D Massage Mechanism

Intensity, speed, width, and roller depth all adjust independently — producing a massage that feels human rather than mechanical.

The 4D system adds dynamic roller head speed variation on top of the standard three-dimensional adjustments, which is what creates the rhythm and variation a skilled massage therapist naturally produces. You have control over 5 intensity levels, 3 massage modes, 3 roller widths, and 6 speeds, covering techniques including kneading, tapping, knocking, shiatsu, sync, 4D shiatsu, percussion, and pressing. The result adapts to your preference whether you need gentle recovery or deep-tissue work.

20 Auto Programs and 5 Manual Programs

Twenty purpose-built sessions and five fully manual options mean the right starting point is always one tap away — and every session can still be dialed in exactly as you want it.

The automatic programs cover the full range of use cases, from recovery and spine care to office relief and deep relaxation. Manual programs give you direct control over the roller position, intensity, and technique so you can address specific areas of tension without following a preset sequence. The combination ensures no two sessions ever feel identical and the chair delivers meaningful results whether you have 10 minutes or half an hour.

Zero Gravity Recline

Your spine decompresses, your knees rise above your heart, and the weight of your upper body distributes evenly into the backrest — making every roller stroke more effective.

The Atlas XL reclines into the zero gravity position automatically or via the remote control, placing your body in the angle where spinal loading is minimized and roller contact is most effective. Most users find that the same intensity setting feels noticeably deeper in zero gravity because the weight of the back presses more naturally into the rollers. Zero gravity also supports circulation and relieves pressure on the joints for users who need therapeutic benefit beyond the back massage.

Space-Saving Technology — Only 12 Inches from the Wall

A chair this size requires remarkably little room to recline fully — twelve inches of wall clearance is all it takes.

Despite the Atlas XL’s oversized frame, the space-saving recline mechanism allows it to reach its full recline angle with only 12 inches between the back of the chair and the wall. For a big-and-tall chair placed in a standard room, this makes placement significantly more flexible than you might expect.

Osaki Atlas XL space-saving technology showing only 12 inches of wall clearance required for full recline

11-Inch Extendable Footrest

Taller users get proper lower-leg and foot support without their feet hanging off the end — a problem the Atlas XL was specifically designed to eliminate.

The footrest extends up to 11 inches in total — 6 inches for the foot section and 5 inches for the calf section — to position the foot rollers and calf massagers correctly against your anatomy regardless of leg length. Users up to 6’8” are accommodated without having to compromise on foot coverage.

48-Cell Full Body Air Massage

Circulation is boosted and muscle tension is reduced from shoulders to feet throughout every session — not just in the areas the rollers cover.

Forty-eight air cells positioned at the shoulders, arms, hips, calves, and feet deliver coordinated compression sequences that complement the roller mechanism working on your back simultaneously. The rhythmic inflate-and-release action promotes blood flow across the entire body, and five intensity levels let you dial in the compression from a gentle circulatory boost to firm, active recovery pressure.

Lumbar and Foot Heating Therapy

Warmth and roller pressure work together on the areas that need them most — not as separate steps.

Dedicated heating elements warm both the lumbar and foot areas throughout your session. The heat works alongside the rollers and air compression, helping muscle tissue respond more readily to the pressure and creating a fuller sense of release compared to mechanical pressure alone. This combination is particularly effective for users with chronic lower back tension or cold feet during sessions.

Deep Calf Massage and Specialized Foot Rollers

The lower leg receives a layered treatment — not just compression — with dedicated mechanisms for both the calf and the foot working simultaneously.

The calf section combines 14 air cells with 4 mechanical bumpers that work directly into the calf muscle from multiple angles, delivering a more targeted result than air compression alone. Beneath the feet, 16 air cells and 6 rollers work along the bottom of the feet from heel to toe, providing a thorough foot massage that addresses the full sole with each pass. Both systems are sized to match the Atlas XL’s wider-than-standard compartments.

Built-In Bluetooth Speaker

Your music, podcasts, or audiobooks stream directly to the chair — no earbuds, no phone in hand, no interrupting the session.

The built-in Bluetooth speaker pairs with your phone and delivers audio directly through the chair, so the sound accompanies you throughout the recline. Whether you use music to deepen relaxation or prefer an audiobook during a recovery session, the audio experience is integrated rather than an afterthought.

Ambient LED Lighting

The room shifts when the chair does — a subtle detail that makes a meaningful difference in how completely you switch off.

Integrated LED lighting creates a calm ambient glow around the chair during use, reinforcing the transition from activity to recovery. It is a small feature that owners consistently notice and appreciate, particularly for evening sessions when transitioning to sleep afterward.

Touchscreen Tablet Controller

Every program, adjustment, and setting is accessible from a single intuitive screen — no buttons to feel for, no manual to refer back to.

The touchscreen tablet provides a clear, modern interface for all 20 auto programs, manual controls, and adjustment settings. The layout is organized logically enough to navigate without looking at instructions, and the display makes the current program and intensity setting visible at a glance throughout your session.

Quick Side Control Panel

Quick adjustments without picking up the tablet — the most-used controls are always within reach at the armrest.

The armrest-mounted side panel puts the most-used massage settings directly at your fingertips while you remain reclined. It works alongside the touchscreen tablet rather than replacing it, giving you two intuitive paths to any adjustment during a session.

Osaki Atlas XL quick side control panel on armrest for easy in-session adjustments

USB-C Charging Port

Your devices stay charged while you recover — without leaving the chair.

A USB-C port built into the chair lets you plug in your phone or tablet while you use it, so you are not sacrificing battery life to stream audio or browse during a session. A small convenience that adds up over daily use.

Osaki Atlas XL USB-C charging port for device charging during massage

Removable Headrest

Removing the headrest gives the rollers more direct access to the upper neck and shoulder region, producing a noticeably more intense massage in that area.

The headrest detaches quickly, and many users prefer it off when targeting neck and upper shoulder tension for a more direct roller experience. For everyday use or when you prefer neck support, it reinstalls just as easily.

Measuring Your Doorway

The Atlas XL’s assembled width is 35 inches and its disassembled width is 28.7 inches. To confirm your doorway will work: subtract 2 inches from the smallest inner width of the door frame (1 inch per side). Measure with a standard tape. If the door cannot open fully, measure from the edge of the hinge to the door’s opposite side. If there is a rounded curve on the wall, measure from the most protruding point. Call 888-612-8862 if you have questions about your specific entry path — we will walk through it with you.

Our Expert Take on the Osaki 4D Atlas XL

The Atlas XL addresses a gap in the massage chair market that has existed for a long time: most chairs are sized for users between about 5’3” and 5’11”, leaving taller and broader buyers with seats that feel cramped and massage coverage that misses its target. Osaki designed the Atlas XL from the ground up to solve this. The 23-inch seat width, wider armrests, enlarged calf compartments, and 11-inch extendable footrest are not modifications to a standard frame — they are the frame. The result is a chair where a 6’4” user sits and feels genuinely supported rather than tolerated.

The 4D mechanism is well-implemented at this price point. The dynamic roller speed variation produces the rhythmic inconsistency that distinguishes a good massage from a mechanical one, and the SL Flex Track’s angle-compensating joint keeps the rollers properly oriented against the spine as you recline — a detail that matters more than many buyers realize until they sit in a chair where the rollers dig in at the wrong angle. The smart body scan calibrates position before each session, which is the right way to handle the wide height range this chair is designed to serve.

The lower-body treatment is one of the Atlas XL’s genuine standout areas. The combination of 14 air cells, 4 mechanical calf bumpers, 16 foot air cells, and 6 foot rollers delivers more layered lower-leg coverage than most chairs in its price range provide, and the heat at both the lumbar and foot zones works alongside the mechanical systems rather than as a separate feature. The 48-cell air system is one of the larger counts available at this price, and the five-level intensity control on the compression is a useful feature for users whose needs vary day to day.

The Atlas XL is the right chair for larger buyers who have avoided massage chairs because nothing fit properly, and for anyone who wants a well-specified 4D massage chair with strong lower-body coverage at a price point well below the flagship tier. It is not the right chair if you need a dual-mechanism back massage or health-adaptive programming — both of those require stepping up to the DuoMax. Call us at 888-612-8862 and we will tell you directly whether the Atlas XL fits your situation.

What We Love

  • Built from scratch for larger bodies — Not a scaled-up standard chair. The 23” seat, widened calf compartments, and 400-lb capacity reflect dedicated engineering for bigger frames.
  • 4D mechanism with genuine depth adjustment — Variable roller speed, 5 intensity levels, 3 widths, 6 speeds, and 8 massage techniques. The rhythm feels human rather than repetitive.
  • SL Flex Track with angle compensation — Full neck-to-hamstring coverage with rollers that stay at the correct contact angle through the entire recline range.
  • Smart Body Scan — Calibrates roller position to your spinal curve before every session, which matters especially for users at either end of the height range.
  • 48 air cells with 5 intensity levels — One of the larger air cell counts at this price point, covering shoulders, arms, hips, calves, and feet with adjustable compression intensity.
  • Layered calf and foot treatment — 14 air cells + 4 mechanical bumpers on the calf, plus 6 rollers + 16 air cells on the foot. More comprehensive lower-leg coverage than most competitors in this range.
  • Dual heat zones — lumbar and feet — Warmth applied where it matters most, working alongside the massage rather than as a separate setting.
  • 11-inch extendable footrest — Properly supports users up to 6’8”; no foot hanging off the end.
  • 12-inch wall clearance — Impressive for a chair of this size. Most XL chairs require considerably more space to recline.
  • Touchscreen tablet + armrest side panel — Two-path control that lets you adjust everything without sitting up or reaching awkwardly.

Worth Knowing

  • Single-mechanism back massage — The Atlas XL uses one 4D roller assembly that travels the full SL Flex Track. If your primary goal is simultaneous upper and lower back coverage, the Osaki OS-Pro 4D DuoMax is a more appropriate comparison. Call us and we will explain the difference in a minute or two.
  • 1-Stage Zero Gravity — The Atlas XL has one zero gravity position, not two. If multi-stage zero gravity adjustment is important to your daily use, this is worth noting before you order.
  • Minimum height is not specified by the manufacturer — The chair is designed for users up to 6’8”, but if you are under 5’5” and concerned about fit — particularly whether the rollers will track your spine correctly — call us at 888-612-8862 before ordering and we will give you a direct answer.

Our Verdict

The Osaki 4D Atlas XL is the most thoroughly engineered big-and-tall massage chair available at its price point. It is not a standard chair with a wider seat — it is a purpose-built design that addresses every aspect of the user experience for larger bodies, from the widened calf compartments to the 11-inch footrest and the smart body scan that calibrates to your exact dimensions. Best for taller and larger buyers who have struggled to find a chair that fits, daily desk workers and active recovery users in a bigger frame who want 4D depth and strong lower-body coverage. Look elsewhere if you need a dual-mechanism back massage, advanced health detection, or multi-stage zero gravity.

Who Is This Chair Best For?

The Bigger and Taller Buyer

You are over 6’0”, over 250 lbs, or both — and every massage chair you have sat in has left your feet unsupported, the rollers off-target, or the seat uncomfortably narrow. The Atlas XL is the first chair designed specifically around your frame, and the difference is immediate and physical the moment you sit down.

The Active Recovery User

After a hard training day, the 4D rollers work the full back on the SL Flex Track while the 48-cell air system compresses the hips and legs, the calf bumpers address tight lower legs, and the foot rollers work through the arches — all with heat at the lumbar and feet to accelerate the tissue response. It covers the whole recovery picture in one session.

The Desk-Bound Professional

Neck, shoulders, lower back, and feet — the four areas that accumulate the most tension from daily office work — all addressed in a single 20-30 minute session. The smart body scan ensures the rollers track your spine accurately every time, and the dual lumbar and foot heat accelerates the tension release after long seated hours.

When to Consider a Different Chair

If your primary goal is the most thorough back massage available — specifically simultaneous upper and lower back coverage with dual roller mechanisms and health-adaptive programming — the Osaki OS-Pro 4D DuoMax addresses that in a way the Atlas XL is not designed to. The DuoMax is also the right direction if moving jade heating cores, piano key arm massage, or voice control are features you want.

If your frame is closer to average and the big-and-tall capacity is not a factor, the Titan Pro Jupiter XL is worth comparing — it serves a similar tall-user audience at a lower price point, but with a 3D mechanism and L-Track rather than the Atlas XL’s 4D SL Flex system. Call 888-612-8862 and we will tell you honestly which chair fits your situation better in about two minutes.

Its 23-inch seat width, reinforced steel frame, wider calf compartments, widened armrests, and 11-inch extendable footrest are engineered specifically for users up to 6’8” and 400 lbs. Other Osaki chairs are designed for users roughly up to 5’11”–6’2” and around 265–300 lbs. If you are above that range, the Atlas XL is the appropriate choice. Call 888-612-8862 and tell us your height and weight, and we will tell you directly whether the Atlas XL or another model is the better fit.

How does the return policy work?

We offer easy, no-questions-asked 30-day returns. If the Atlas XL is not the right fit within 30 days of delivery, contact us and we will send a truck to pick it up — there is no freight for you to arrange. We have maintained an A+ BBB Rating since 2005, and standing behind our returns is a central part of how we have kept it.

What is the warranty?

The Atlas XL carries Osaki’s standard 3-year warranty: Year 1 covers parts and in-home labor in full; Year 2 covers parts only; Year 3 covers structural framework. Service is handled through Osaki’s US-based network. Call 888-612-8862 with any warranty questions.

What are the exact size and weight specifications?

The Atlas XL accommodates users up to 6’8” tall and up to 400 lbs. The seat width is 23 inches. The footrest extends up to 11 inches (6” foot + 5” calf) for taller users. The chair itself weighs approximately 325.6 lbs. Call 888-612-8862 if you have specific fit questions and we will give you a direct answer.

How much space does the Atlas XL need?

When upright, the Atlas XL measures 35 inches wide, 62 inches long, and 47.5 inches tall. When fully reclined, it extends to 74 inches in length. It requires only 12 inches of wall clearance to reach full recline. The minimum door width when assembled is 35 inches; when the arms are removed, it passes through a 28.7-inch opening. Call 888-612-8862 if you want to talk through your specific space before ordering.

Why buy from Easy Massage Chair?

What financing is available?

We offer financing through Affirm (0%–36% APR based on creditworthiness; check your rate at checkout without affecting your credit score) and PayPal Credit (0% interest for eligible buyers for up to 6 months).

Is the Atlas XL worth it compared to ongoing massage appointments?

For buyers who use a chair consistently, the economics typically compare favorably to ongoing professional massage within 18–24 months. For larger users who have struggled to find a professional massage table that accommodates them comfortably, the Atlas XL’s size-specific engineering makes on-demand therapeutic massage available in a way that simply was not an option before. Track Type (What's this?)

The SL Flex Track follows the natural S-curve of your spine (neck to lower back) and then bends like an L-track to extend under the thighs and hamstrings. The "Flex" design adds extra articulation so the backrest can recline more horizontally, deepening stretch programs.

SL Flex Track (neck to hamstrings)
Massage Mechanism (What's this?)

4D adds a fourth axis of movement to the roller head — adjustable forward protrusion depth and variable speed — on top of the three spatial axes of 3D. This lets the chair mimic the nuanced rhythm and pressure variation of a human therapist's hands.

4D (adjustable intensity, width, depth & speed)
Body Scan System (What's this?)

Before each session the chair's sensors automatically map the contours of your back — locating your neck, shoulders, and spine — so the roller head applies precise pressure at the right points rather than using a fixed, one-size-fits-all path.

Smart Body Scan (neck to glutes, automatic)
Auto Massage Programs20 programs (includes full-body, targeted relief & stretch routines)
Manual Massage Styles5 styles (kneading, knocking, tapping, shiatsu, knead+tap)
Zero Gravity Recline (What's this?)

Inspired by NASA research, zero gravity tilts the chair so your legs rise to roughly heart level. This distributes body weight evenly across the backrest, decompresses the spine, reduces joint pressure, and allows the rollers to apply deeper, more effective massage.
