Heating modules in the lower back area deliver gentle warmth that loosens tight muscles and enhances the effectiveness of every massage stroke.
▶ Metronome Rocking
Gently rocks you in a calm, rhythmic motion that mimics a natural swaying sensation — ideal for winding down and clearing the mind.

Hands-free voice control lets you start, stop, or switch programs simply by speaking — no need to reach for a remote when you're already relaxing.

A large, intuitive tablet-style remote puts full control of every massage feature right at your fingertips for easy, on-the-fly customization.
▶ Bluetooth® Speakers
Connect your phone or Bluetooth device to the built-in speakers and fill your session with music, podcasts, or guided meditation for a fully immersive experience.

Our Expert Take on the Kyota Zenyu M338
The Kyota Zenyu M338 is what a well-designed entry-level massage chair looks like when the manufacturer gets the fundamentals right. At its list price of $5,999, it competes directly with chairs that cut corners on the features that matter most — and the M338 does not. The four-node roller mechanism delivers four distinct techniques (shiatsu, kneading, tapping, and knocking), which means a single auto program genuinely moves through a varied, therapeutic sequence rather than repeating the same motion. TrueFit® body scanning ensures the rollers map to your actual spine position before every session — not just once during setup. These two features together set the M338 apart from chairs at this price that offer a longer feature list but shallower execution.
The zero gravity recline and zero-wall space-saving design are both well-implemented and genuinely practical. Zero gravity on this chair is not decorative — it reduces spinal loading enough that the rollers feel meaningfully more effective at the same intensity setting. The forward-sliding base means you can position this chair close to a wall without sacrificing full recline, which matters in rooms where space is a constraint. The Metronome Rocking feature is less common at this price tier and consistently draws positive comments from owners who use the chair for stress relief as much as physical recovery.
Voice control and Bluetooth® speakers add genuine day-to-day convenience — the ability to adjust a program without sitting up and to listen to audio through the chair rather than earbuds makes sessions more comfortable from start to finish. The 18 auto programs provide enough variety that sessions do not feel repetitive over time. Lumbar heat rounds out the package by warming the tissue before the rollers work on it, increasing effectiveness without requiring more pressure.
The M338 is best suited for buyers who want a thorough back, shoulder, and lower-body massage from a chair that is straightforward to use and practical in size. It is not the right fit for buyers who prioritize calf massage depth, full-arm compression, or the kind of deep-tissue intensity that higher-tier chairs provide. Call 888-612-8862 and we will tell you directly whether the M338 is the right choice for your situation or if a different model would serve you better.
What We Love
- Four distinct massage techniques in one mechanism — Shiatsu, kneading, tapping, and knocking. Real therapeutic variety, not just one motion at different speeds.
- TrueFit® Body Scanning — Detects your body’s proportions and adjusts the roller path before every session. Coverage that matches you, not a generic average.
- 18 auto programs — Enough variety to keep sessions feeling different day to day. One button and the chair manages everything automatically.
- Zero gravity recline — Spinal decompression in a position that actively improves roller effectiveness. Not just a recline feature — a therapeutic advantage.
- Zero-wall space-saving design — Slides forward as it reclines. Full recline from just a few inches of wall clearance.
- Lumbar heat — Warms and softens the lower back before and during roller work, improving results without increasing pressure.
- Metronome Rocking — A calming rhythm feature that genuinely helps stress release alongside the physical massage. Less common at this price tier.
- Voice control + tablet remote — Two ways to control the chair without interrupting your session. Voice commands mean you never have to sit up to make an adjustment.
- Bluetooth® speakers built in — Audio plays through the chair itself. Easier and more immersive than earbuds during a massage.
Worth Knowing
- Ideal height range is 4’8”–6’2” — TrueFit® scanning optimizes coverage within this window. If you are outside this range, especially above 6’2”, call us before ordering and we will tell you directly how the chair will fit you.
- This is a back-focused chair — The roller mechanism covers your neck, shoulders, and full back exceptionally well. If deep calf kneading or full-arm compression massage is a top priority for you, a higher-tier model may be a better match. We are happy to help you compare.
- Intensity range is moderate — The M338’s massage is therapeutic and satisfying for everyday use. If you are accustomed to the deepest settings on premium 4D chairs and specifically need that level of intensity, this chair may feel lighter than you expect at the upper end.
Our Verdict
The Kyota Zenyu M338 is an exceptionally well-rounded chair for buyers who want genuine therapeutic results from a chair that is straightforward to use and practical to place in any room. The four-node mechanism, TrueFit® scanning, and 18 auto programs deliver more than the price suggests. Best for everyday users who deal with back, neck, and shoulder tension, buyers who want voice control and smart features without complexity, and households where space or ease of entry matters. Look elsewhere if deep calf massage, full-arm compression, or maximum-intensity deep-tissue work is your primary goal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Zenyu M338 different from other chairs at this price?
The M338 combines four genuine massage techniques in a single four-node mechanism (shiatsu, kneading, tapping, knocking) with TrueFit® body scanning that maps your actual spine before every session. Most chairs at this price point offer one or two techniques and no adaptive scanning. Add Metronome Rocking, zero gravity recline, zero-wall space-saving design, voice control, and Bluetooth® speakers — and the M338 delivers a more complete feature set than most competitors charge significantly more for.
How does the return policy work?
We offer easy, no-questions-asked 30-day returns. If the Zenyu M338 is not the right fit within 30 days of delivery, contact us and we will send a truck to pick it up — there is no freight for you to arrange. We have maintained an A+ BBB Rating since 2005, and standing behind our returns is a large part of how we have kept it.
What is the warranty?
The Kyota Zenyu M338 includes a 4-year residential limited warranty: 1 year of complete in-home parts and labor service, 2 years of no-cost replacement parts, and 4 years of structural framework coverage. For in-home service, Kyota arranges for a technician to come to your residence at no charge. Call 888-612-8862 with any warranty questions.
What are the height and weight limits?
The Zenyu M338 is designed for users between 4 feet 8 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a maximum user weight of 300 lbs. The seat is 16 inches deep, 20 inches wide at the hips, and 23 inches at the shoulders. If you are near the height limits, call 888-612-8862 and we will tell you specifically how the chair will fit.
How much wall clearance does the M338 need?
The Zero Wall space-saving technology means the chair slides its base forward as it reclines, requiring only minimal clearance from the wall to reach a full recline position. The chair is 30 inches wide and 45 inches tall when upright, and extends to 70 inches in length when fully reclined. The chair weighs 150 lbs. Call 888-612-8862 if you have specific room layout questions and we will help you plan the placement.

What financing is available?
We offer financing through Affirm (0%–36% APR based on creditworthiness; check your rate at checkout without affecting your credit score) and PayPal Credit (0% interest for eligible buyers for up to 6 months).
Is the Zenyu M338 worth it compared to ongoing massage appointments?
For buyers who use a chair consistently, the math typically works in your favor within 18–24 months compared to regular professional massage appointments. The M338 is designed for daily use — a short session each evening costs nothing beyond the original purchase. The 18 auto programs and TrueFit® scanning keep sessions varied enough that daily use does not feel repetitive. Do I need White Glove Setup or can I do it myself?
- The chairs are simple to setup. It only takes about 20 minutes. The only reason setup is required is because most chairs ship with the arms detached to make it narrower, lighter and easier to move into your home.
- The setup is basically just screwing the arms to the chair. It includes easy to follow instructions and does not require special tools or skills. There are also wheels on the bottom of the chair to make it easier to move.
- If you want them to setup the chair inside your home, please select the option for “White Glove Setup”. We don't recommend it for most people it because it's an easy way to save yourself the money. But we're happy to add it to your order if you'd like.
Canadian customers
