Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair

Computer Body Scan System

Equipped with the latest technology, this Shiatsu Massage Chair allows the rollers to map the back curvature with even more accuracy, which translates into a more precise massage hitting all the key areas. Regardless of your body type, this highly advanced chair will self-adjust making each massage experience feel customized.

Osaki OS 4000 Body Scan Massage Chair

2 Stage Zero Gravity

Inspired by NASA technology, the Zero gravity position is the perfect position to enjoy a massage, aligning your back relative to your thigh at an optimal level of comfort. When reclined into the zero gravity position, the complete weight of your back is virtually supported by the backrest which maximizes the intensity of the massage. This also reduces the vertical stress on the spine. There are 2 stages of zero gravity, the 2nd being more reclined. Study show that when the legs are at or above heart level, it promotes better circulation.

Osaki Zero Gravity Massage Chair

True Ergonomic S-Track

The Osaki Os 4000 Massage Chair with Zero Gravity is ergonomically designed to contour a variety spine shapes. The Spine curvature is unique form one individual to the next. The S-track system allows the roller heads to massage along the back from the neck down to the lower spine with a consistent pressure in the massage along with a comfortable support. The typical massage tracks being linear create an inconsistency in pressure applying weak massages in the neck and lower back.

Next Generation Air Massage Technology

The airbag massagers have been upgraded and engineered, reducing the number of airbags and valves but at the same time increasing the surface coverage. Less power is consumed and runs more quietly with the reduction of air pumps and valves, allowing for a more tranquil massage experience. The material used to create the air bags have also been modified with industrial grade material for durability but yet soft and pliable to provide comfort and consistency.

Osaki OS 4000 S-Track Massage Chair

Arm Air Massagers

Along with mechanical advancement, the material has also incorporated some upgrades, such as the arm massaging area. Using a durable spandex, the bottom portion of the arm massager has been lined with small rubber bumps to invigorate the senses as the air bags compress the tops and bottom of the forearm and hands.

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair AirbagOsaki OS 4000 Arm Massage Chair

Foot and Calf Massage

There are multiple air bags along the sides and back of the legs and feet which inflate to apply a compression massage. Located along the bottom foot massager are 2 pressure point nodes. When the air bags inflate, the foot and calves are firmly pressed down on the pressure points for an invigorating massage. The experience is simulates a massage therapist pressing down with their thumbs.

Osaki OS 4000 Foot Calf Massage Chair

Hips and Lumbar Squeeze

Hip airbags are located on the left and right side of the seat base. When inflated it will compress the hips inwards, applying a firm massage to the thighs and hips. When the airbags inflate on the hips it may also be used to hold the user in place as the back massage rollers move downwards, working on the lower section of the back. On the lower portion of the backrest, there are 2 lumbar airbags. When inflated it will squeeze the outer portion of the lower back inwards providing a mild massage.

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair Seat

Shoulder Airbag Massage

The outer and top part of the shoulders have not been forgotten. Airbags have been placed on both sides of the chair. As the airbags inflate the shoulders pressed inwards and back pinning your shoulders the backrest. This will stretch out muscles in the shoulder region where most carry their tension.

Osaki OS 4000 Shoulder Massage Chair

Full Size Easy-to-Use Remote

The Osaki OS-4000 remote presents one of the largest viewing screens making it easy view what functions the chair has activated. There is also a flip down cover to access the manual functions of the chair. The remote allows you to select the massage type, intensity, speed and location. You can also independently select the area of airbag massage. The manual mode massage includes kneading, tapping, shiatsu, rolling, combination and Swedish .

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair Remote

Wireless Controller

Located on the top right of the main remote, you will find a compact wireless remote allowing you to control the main features of the chair without having to struggle to reach the main remote in the reclined position.

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair Wireless Remote

Lower Back Heat Therapy

There are 2 heating pads, one on each side in the lower lumbar area. The heat therapy is a great compliment to roller and airbag massage. The heating pad is not intended to be use for more than 30 minutes a day or the duration of a massage preset program.

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair Heating System

Auto Leg Scan

The calf and foot massager is capable of making adjustments according to each individual's leg length, ensuring that the massage air bags are concentrating on the correct areas. At the start of the massage, the legs will fully extend out and then retract. Once the foot massager has reached the desired length, firmly press your toes down to indicate the chair to stop.

Osaki OS 4000 Leg Massage Chair

Seat Vibration

Osaki has taken 1 step further to enhance your massage experience. The 3rd dimension added is vibration massage. On the seat a hi frequency vibration massage plate has been added to massage the back portion of user's upper legs. The vibration is soothing and effective.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

How will this chair fill me? The outer shoulder massagers measure 20 inches side to side. This translates to a 46” jacket size for men or 22 inches in shoulder width. Anyone who's shoulder are wider that 22 inches will find this chair snug in the shoulder region and be recommended to select the Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber that provides an additional 1.5 more inches in width.

The seat base has a total width of 17 inches which translates to about a 40 inch waist capacity.

This chair will fit some comfortably up to 6'3”.

The results may vary as each individual's body types are different.

Total space required from front to back when reclined is 6 feet. The width is 3 feet from side to side.

The Osaki Os 4000 Massage Chair massage intensity has been measured at 7-8 in regards to back massage intensity.

Warranty: The chair comes with a 1 year plus 2 year additional parts factory warranty.

Osaki OS 4000 Massage Chair Size

Intensity Control

The intensity of the airbags can be controlled 5 levels along 5 different speeds for the massage heads. On the remote tap the “intensity” and the “strength” button to make the adjustments.

Manual Mode

Below the LCD screen flip down the panel cover to access the manual controls. In the manual mode you can select a variety massage types, areas to massage and isolate where you want the airbags to inflate. This chair allows you to customize the massage in great detail.

Do I need Indoor Setup (also known as white glove service) or can I do it myself?

- The chairs are easy to assemble.  It only takes about 20 minutes.  The only reason assembly is required is because most chairs ship with the arms detached to make it narrower, lighter and easier to move into your home.

- The assembly is basically just screwing the arms to the chair.  It includes easy to follow instructions and does not require special tools or skills.

- If you want them to setup the chair inside your home, you can select the option for “Indoor Setup & Assembly”.  We don't recommend it for most people it because it's an easy way to save yourself the money.  But we're happy to add it to your order if you'd like.

Product was described as refurbished but arrived like brand new. This is a very heavy chair. Delivery will be at your curb or driveway so consider how you will bring this into your home. I was able to give the delivery person a tip to bring it into the house and up the stairs. This is extremely heavy and bulky to carry up stairs if you don't have much experience moving furniture. The massage works like a dream. It is what family and friends gravitate to when they come over my house. (Posted on 2/19/2018)

Delivered on time and it was every bit as simple to assemble as advertised. Ths is my initial review and wanted to make public that this chair exceeded all of my expectations. It is always risky buying a product online because you don't have the opportunty to judge workmanship and overall quality until after purchase. In one short statement, this is a beautifully made, high quality product. This looks and feels a lot more expensive than the price and I base my comparison reference from looking at competitor models in stores that cost several times more. I would judge that this chair is at least equal to models I have physically seen that cost over $10,000. If you are looking for a full body massage chair, this will not disappoint. It works.... rollers are strong; heating elements work as advertised. My only comment that is not necessarily a criticism, but rather a statement of fact is that this chair is extremely heavy. There are rollers on the rear for movement, but the reality is that it is a two person job. All I have to say is that all the money spent for personal massage services will likely end. This is a total body massage machine. (Posted on 2/16/2018)

I use it for just several day so far so, it's just first impression for now. The chair is of very good quality: solid design, components fit well (it comes disassembled), leather (or whatever it is) is of good quality. Chair has a lot of settings which I didn't yet investigate. Though, there are four presets you can use right away. I liked "Circulation" and "Relax". Tried "Smart" but found it too aggressive - feels like you're being tortured thru crushing. There are also "subsets" you may choose with just one click of a button - "Back & Lumbar" is my favorite.

I'd also note "Zero-G" mode. It's advertised as a key feature of the product and it's really cool. You may enable this mode for some massage types but not for all. In this mode chiar puts you in kind of horizontal position. It's comfortable and massage feels much better. If you gonna use this mode you must ensure there are at least 23" of free space behind the chair. So, you cannot put it close to a wall.

Some cons noticed so far:
1. Remote control has very limited sensitivity - you need to target very precisely if you want it working. Btw, remote control is not advertised. It has only basic features like "power", "zero-g" and some strength adjustments.
2. Main control board is mounted on a metal stick which is very unstable. It's hard to operate using just one hand and if you're using Zero-G or any other horizontal mode one hand is all you have.
3. Assembling manual is a bit outdated. Though, I figured out what to do without any problems.

When you request delivery be aware of three things:
1. It's really heavy! Total weight is about 200lb. Max weight of the biggest part I'd estimate to ~120-140lb.
2. Chair comes in two boxes and one of them has dimensions 50" x 30" x 38". In my house I have doorways of 31" width and due to layout it was impossible to move both boxes to the room so, delivery guys left the biggest one in the garage. I had to move all parts to the target room by my hands and it wasn't fun.
3. Even if you don't need to move parts throughout your home you still need assistance of another person to assemble the unit. You can do it yourself but trust me - it doesn't worth it. You buy this chair to *heal* your back, right? :) (Posted on 2/13/2018)

This chair offers plenty of options, two levels of zero gravity, heat, seat vibration, and much more. It comes in four pieces--the main unit, the back, and the two sides. Assembly was easier than I thought it would be, at least after I got the sides on. That was the hardest and most time consuming because a bar seems to be blocking the back screws, You really have to manuever to get those in. The secret is to get the bolt started, then slide the thick portion of the tool that is provided onto the bolt and over the bar. Getting the tool back off after you tighten the bolt is a bit difficult, but once the sides are on, the rest is relatively easy. This is a very heavy chair, though, so you will need someone to help you move it (the base portion at least--that's where most of the weight is located), The remote is a bit complicated--check out YouTube for a tutorial on how to use it. The detachable remote is handy so that you don't have to relmove your arm from the arm rest to make adjustments to speed or intensity. This chair is great for people with back problems, or for someone who just likes a good massage. (Posted on 10/18/2016)
An excellent massage chairReview by Kenneth M. Goldstein

I bought this chair to replace a much more expensive Panasonic massage chair that had finally stopped working after a decade, with no repair parts available. The Osaki technology is definitely superior to my older chair, & I was pleasantly surprised at how well the inflatable bags work instead of rollers. Figuring out the programming function was pretty much trial-&-error, but just using the pre-programmed functions will work most of the time. I had heard rumors that the bags squeeze too hard, but I found the pressure quite pleasant, & I sometimes increase the defaults if I'm really sore.

About the only thing I would change is the six beeps when the programming starts & stops...my parrots have picked up on that, & it drives me nuts! Other than that, it's pretty much flawless. (Posted on 9/20/2016)

We got this over a year ago. For the price, it's unbeatable. I see people complaining of assembly. Except for the size of the components, the assembly is not that difficult. Easy to assemble if you've two people. Sometimes some tools fitting to some screws could be a bit difficult. Overall they've done a great job. Manual is pretty useless. For the amount of features on the remote, you'd expect everything to be detailed. But you don't really need a manual for this except for the assembly. You can figure it out all by yourself. It's got extensive custom controls and trust me except me and the dog ;-) , no one can figure out to use some of the controls. The programmed massages are good. I like one of two of them mostly and repeat the same. But the spot massages are great. The zero gravity is fantastic. There's also a custom adjustment after setting to zero gravity you can lean the chair further back all the way to a steep angle and it's very good for blood flow to your head. The chair is perfectly balanced although you would think at that you'd fall back, but you won't. I love this aspect. Also love the heat for the back. Esp. if the back muscles are sore, the heat is really great.
If you try other brands for these features it may cost well over 5K. So for less than 3K, you can't beat it. We didn't see any problems with the mounted remote. The mini remote is a IR remote so you've to point it to the main remote. They could have made it RF remote and it would have been fantastic, so you don't have to take your hand out of the chair everytime to adjust during massage.
The chair is heavy and mind you, make sure you put a padding or something under the 4 corners of the chair , otherwise the material leaves a stain on the carpet, which is hard to remove.

ONLY WARNING: When you're planning on moving , make sure if you can you move the whole chair as is. Otherwise if you disassemble it by disconnecting the air pump pipes, it would be a bit difficult to hook them back. Because they run a metal spring inside each of these rubber pipes, they tend to stick out, which makes it extremely difficult to plug them back. Also the air pipes are snug and d (Posted on 9/13/2016)

man, after a workout I love this chair! My cousin Justin has one. (He has more money than sense.) But for once, I'm thrilled he went overboard with his spending because I drop by on my way home from the gym. (I'm a workout freak.) I stikin LOVE THIS CHAIR! I have NO idea if the Shiatsu is enough to do my body any actualy physiological good but mentally and physically I sure can relax in it. I've gone to sleep in it after 5 mins more times than I can count. Now would I buy one? If I was wealthy, yea! But for now, I'll let him just pay the bills while I get the benefits. i can't see this chair as being worth the $2+ grand it costs but otherwise, it's a real joy. (Posted on 8/19/2016)

I've had my Osaki OS-4000 massage chair for about 1 week now. Both my wife and I really like the chair quite a bit. There are some pros and cons you should be aware of though.

Pros:
* The chair is very comfortable and the Zero G recline feature adds greatly to the comfort.
* The calf, foot, arm, hip and shoulder massage work quite well.
* You can get a very good neck and shoulder massage if you do not use the pillow (the pillow can be flipped over the back of the chair if you do not wish to use it).
* The back massage is good. My favorite setting is the rolling.
* The heat feature feels great.

Cons:
* I like a very firm massage. In my opinion, the back massage of the Osaki OS-4000 is not strong enough. There is a cloth insert that is in the backrest that dulls the strength of the back massage. Even when this is removed, the back massage is still not strong enough for my preference. The back massage is good but would be absolutely great with a just a bit more strength. For comparison, we used to own a Brookstone Human Touch massage chair that we bought back in 1999. That had fantastic strength for the back massage rollers.

* The back pillow can be comfortable depending on your height. I am 5' 7" and the pillow is comfortable for me but not for my wife who is 5 feet tall. The pillow cannot be removed from the chair. You can drape it over the back of the char if you want. I find that if I do this, I actually get a better neck massage that with the air cushions in the pillow itself. Sometimes I use the pillow but sometimes I prefer not to.

* The controller on the chair has many flaws in my opinion. Some of the buttons are backlit but the vast majority of them are not. The print for the buttons is extremely small. I have better than 20/20 vision. If I can't see the text, most others will not be able to do so. I use the chair in a dimly lit room. It is not possible to see what most of the buttons are in low light conditions. You have to memorize the locations. I'm considering buying a light I can attach to the controller for this purpose.

* There is a convenient mini-remote included. Well... it would be convenient if it worked. Mines does not. Maybe I just need a new battery.

* I am not a fan of most of the pre-programmed massage settings. Like others have mentioned, the Smart setting can really hurt your calves and feet at times. Thankfully it is the only setting I have found that does this. I have actually had to stop the massage because it was too painful on my calves.

* I was very surprised to find that the chair was delivered UNASSEMBLED. This was NOT mentioned anywhere in the listing. The chair weighs over 300 lbs so moving it is quite difficult. If you have an option to get a white glove service, I suggest that you take it. I was able to assemble the chair but with significant difficulty. Osaki changed some parts and did not update the instruction manual for assembling the chair. Online videos I found on youtube did not show the newer parts either. I figured it out but it was not a fun experience.

* There was absolutely no warranty information provided or contact information for the company.

* The heat can take at least 5 minutes before you feel it. You can always turn it on before you are ready to get in the chair.

* There is a 30 minute timer limit and the chair cannot be used more than 60 consecutive minutes without a cool-down period. Good luck finding that information online.

* The controller needlessly beeps loudly at certain times during the massage. It isn't a constant beeping but it might beep loudly for 5 seconds at 3 points during a 30 minute massage. This is supposed to alert you of opportunities to adjust certain settings such as strength or airbag intensity. Since there is a display on the controller, it isn't needed though unless you are visually impaired. The unfortunate part is that you cannot turn the beeping off. (Posted on 8/4/2016)

I bought this chair without seeing it in store or owning a massage chair before. I looked online but couldn't find any honest or in-depth reviews, so here I am making one that will hopefully make your decision. Pricewise, massage chairs are a luxury item. I know for sure money can be put to better use but in terms of relative value this chair is pretty good.

I got the cream version and it looks great. I would suggest getting a white glove service to set it up. The chair is bigger than I expected and needs a lot of room, especially for the zero-g function to work. FYI zero-g refers to when this chair reclines and changes angle, which is great because it makes the back massage more powerful.

MATERIALS: The chair is leather with a metal base. The material is great but I haven't tried cleaning it yet. The chair is shipped in pieces and is solidly built, although I can't say I feel fully confident it won't fall apart when I, say, try to get out of it while it's reclined. If you use it for what it's meant for, then it should be fine.

SHAPE: I'm a young guy (24, 5'9 and athletic) and I fit fine in the chair. The only thing I noticed is that the fitting isn't really designed well; your arms will feel weird because there is a clamp for your shoulders and you feel like you're stuffing your hands awkwardly into the arm clamps. It's hard to describe, but I think they could've designed it better. For someone who is taller or shorter, the zero-g function will automatically adjust to your height so that is no problem (I tested this with other young adults, but not with kids. My guess is that it should be fine for anyone from 5' to 6'3). If you are overweight, there is a bit of space but it might be tougher.

AIRBAGS: The chair touts its usage of tons of airbags. There are airbags for your calves, feet, hips, back, neck, arms, and shoulders. The biggest con of this chair is that the airbags for the calves are VERY painful! I have pretty big calves but even letting my skinny leg friends use the chair they feel the same. It will squeeze your calves to the point where you feel like it's about to explode, and I have the bruises to prove it (yes, they are actual bruises). Other than that, the hips, feet, arms, and butt (?) airbags feel great. The neck and back airbags don't really do much, in fact they are pretty unnecessary but it's nice to see they tried to implement some.

ROLLERS: The rollers on this chair are pretty standard. I haven't tried many other massage chairs but comparatively these are rather weak. You can increase the intensity via the controller or using zero-g, but in general the sensation is pretty mild, which is okay because if you're sitting for extended periods of time something powerful might be bad. There are a multitude of options and some are amazing (such as clapping). The range of the rollers is a bit stiff: you don't really feel it on your upper back due to the padding and it doesn't go below your hip, which I wish it would because I've had previous rollers go to the gluts and that feels really good. They do scan your back before the preset massages to get a contour, but who knows if that actually does anything.

HEAT: This is actually a pretty useful function, especially in the winter. When I bought this chair I wasn't really expecting a heat option but now that I've felt it I think it should be mandatory for all chairs of this class.

FUNCTION: The massage chair have preset functions which do air + rollers and also localized options. The display is very informative and easy to use, showing you where on your body it is massaging. It allows you to control the power of the air and rollers, as well as the speed of the rollers. It also comes with a mini remote control which I thought was a plus, though I don't really use it. The arm that holds the control board up is pretty flimsy and will be a bit annoying to set in the proper place. It also makes annoying beeps at certain times. However, the custom massages are pretty intuitive and you can avoid calf massages completely so it can deliver a pretty customized massage experience.

OVERALL: This product is great! In terms of what it has to offer, it probably tops any of the chairs you'll see in the mall and also does it at half the cost, although IMO these things are already overpriced. There is a warning not to use the chair for more than 30 mins due to overheating. There is an annoying timer which will shut off the chair but you can always add time, and I've used it for more than 30 mins no problem. Also the chair is prone to electric surges, so make sure to connect it to a good surge protector (or just unplug it when not in use). The only real cons are the size and the overly powerful calf massagers, but if you think you can fit and if your wallet can afford it, buy this chair! (Posted on 8/4/2016)
